SUMMERSHINE SUMMER DAY CAMP  

ABOUT SUMMERSHINE DAY CAMP (Summer)

SummerShine is a state licensed, non-denominational, non-profit, community day camp for elementary students who have completed kindergarten and have not yet begun seventh grade, and is an Outreach Ministry of First Christian Church of Rogers.  SummerShine opened its doors in 1996 and continues to grow and grow.  Intended to serve working parents, SummerShine operates is a safe, professional manner that parents will appreciate, providing opportunities for children to grow and develop physically, spiritually, mentally and socially in a positive atmosphere.   There are no part time positions available.

During SummerShine, the children stay busy with constructive indoor and outdoor activities.  Activities include:  Bible classes, arts & crafts, daily field trips, basketball, pool, ping-pong, board games, bowling, fishing, hiking, barn swinging, putt putt golf, zoo, skating, swimming, singing, puppets, morning exercises, movies & etc.

A monthly calendar of events is distributed to parents so that they can know the field trips ahead of time.

Director and Staff:  Matt Wood directs both Character Care and SummerShine. State mandated background checks will be performed on all staff members.  SummerShine will maintain a maximum staff/child ratio of 1:20.

Scholarships: A limited number of partial camper scholarships will be available for children whose parents are in need of assistance.  Interested parents should talk with the director prior to registering regarding their qualification for that help.

Snacks & Lunches: Parents will be responsible for sending with their children each day a nutritionally balanced sack lunch marked with their names.

ABOUT CHARACTER CARE (After School Care)  

Character Care was established during the school year of 1999-2000.  Our enrollment started at 30 students, and today we have to limit the number to 70.  Character Care was implemented to help take care of children whose parents work until 6:00.  We provide tutoring, snack, random acts of kindness days, weekly field trips, and a Christian atmosphere.  God, Family, and Character are our focus.

Dates & Times:  Character Care’s schedule runs parallel with the Roger’s Public School schedule.  When school is closed, we are closed.  Our operating times are 3:00 until 6:00.  There are No part time slots available.
